Holiday Happenings: Things to do in Ventura County

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and according to Hollywood Storage Center’s storage consultant Lindsay, it’s also a wonderful time to find things to do in Ventura County. In her latest blog, she shares that there truly is something for everyone during the holidays in Thousand Oaks and our surrounding cities.

We may not get snow in Thousand Oaks, but we have no shortage of holiday spirit! Just check out this list of holiday happenings. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, whether you prefer musical performances, festivals or shopping sprees, there’s plenty to do.

Friday – Sunday, December 2, 3 & 4

Cal Lutheran Christmas Festival Concerts in Thousand Oaks. Featuring a narrated performance of Christmas music sung by the Cal Lutheran choirs. Tickets must be purchased in advance. 8 p.m.

Monday – December 5

Hanukkah Celebration. Join the students, staff and faculty of Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks for the lighting of the candles on the menorah, traditional food and activities. Bring a toy and assemble holiday packages for children served by Many Mansions. 6 to 8 p.m.

Thursday – December 8

Kwanzaa Celebration. Free Thousand Oaks community event to include authentic African and African-American food, a libation ceremony, arts and crafts, music and dance. 6 to 8 p.m.

Friday – Saturday, December 9 & 10

The Bethlehem Experience. Drive through the first Christmas Eve. This lifelike recreation of the 1st century village includes the Magi camped on the outskirts of the village, shepherds watching their sheep, villagers selling goods, the nativity scene and more. 5 to 9 p.m.

Saturday, December 10

Camarillo Christmas Parade & Santa’s Village. This fun family event includes festivities at the end of the parade route including food, crafts, shopping, live music and more. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Parade of Lights at Channel Islands Harbor. Start your day with activities such as a snowplay area, holiday artists’ market and live music; then enjoy evening strolling carolers and parade of holiday-lit boats. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunday, December 11

Westlake Village Holiday Sing-a-Long. Sing-a-Long concluding with a fountain display and a tree lighting. Toy drive and canned food drive taking place. Other activities include a balloon artist and cookie decorating area. 4 p.m.

Sunday, December 18

Los Robles Master Chorale’s ‘A Joyful Noise!’ This family-friendly concert by one of Southern California’s premier choirs includes the three-movement Gloria, an evergreen brimming with freshness, by its 105-voice chorus. Tickets are $29 with special pricing for seniors and students. 4 p.m.

Tuesday, December 20

Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah! Program. Stories, songs and a craft in celebration of Hanukkah. Bring your little ones to this program sponsored by the City of Camarillo Public Library. 10 a.m.

Tuesday, December 27

Menorah Lighting Event at Janss Marketplace. Join the Thousand Oaks Chabad Center to celebrate the 4th night of Hanukkah with traditional Jewish music and food, sizzling hot latkes, free entertainment and kids’ activities. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
